While all areas of life can cause stress, the nature of an individual's work also matters. For instance, people with an agency job may be more stressed out owing to long hours and tight deadlines than their peers who work in a different environment.

Unfortunately, work-related stress doesn't disappear even when you head home for the day, it lingers on your head and can take a toll on your health.

Despite the fact that work-related stress being widely recognised as one of the major contemporary challenges facing occupational health and safety, recognising and knowing how to deal with stress in a smart way is essential. Here's how to remain calm while working in a stressful environment:

One way of overcoming stress at work is to prioritise tasks. When you're submerged by your job and work-related stress, taking simple, yet practical steps such as, prioritising and organising tasks can help you complete your projects and reduce stress.

Follow the basic rules of healthy lifestyle – balanced diet, exercise and sleep. Because making a healthier lifestyle choices such as, eating a healthy diet that is rich in vegetables and fruits, exercising regularly, getting enough sleep every night, not smoking and drinking alcohol in moderation is one of the best ways to combat stress.
