The AC Cobra when launched in the sixties was the epitome of sportscars with a light bodyweight and a V8 engine. AC Heritage is all set to bring out a new, reborn version of the Cobra. What also helps the Cobra’s reincarnation is the Low Volume Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Act, which makes small car makers exempt from the obligations big car companies have to deal with. Like the builders of new DeLoreans, the makers of Cobras will rely on the LVMVMA which allows small companies to produce limited numbers of replicas built to resemble cars produced at least 25 years ago – as long as they use a modern engine that meets present-day emissions requirements.

The new car will be called the AC Cobra 378 and will come with a 6.2 litre engine. Coupled to that engine will be a more modern gearbox, there will be power assisted steering along with power brakes, and the powerplants will have ECUs – and A/C will also be an option on this AC.  There will be a bunch of modern improvements, but the underlying car will remain the same, with the ladder chassis retained. More details will be revealed later, but there is no doubt that this is exciting news for the car lovers of yore!
