Hyundai Tucson To Be Launched In India Tomorrow

Hyundai Tucson, the long-awaited premium SUV from the South Korean carmaker is all set to go on sale in India tomorrow. The SUV is re-entering the Indian car market after a hiatus of five years and upon its launch, it will compete with the likes of Honda CR-V, Skoda Yeti, and SsangYong Rexton. In India, the new generation Hyundai Tucson will be positioned between the Creta and Santa Fe in the automaker's line-up. Currently, the company is accepting bookings for the Tucson at a payment of ₹ 25,000.

The new Hyundai Tucson was first showcased in India at the 2016 Auto Expo, early this year. There the company has announced that it will launch the car in the country in the second half of 2016, around the festive season. While initially the Tucson was supposed to go on sale last month, on October 14, Hyundai postponed the dates so that the new Elantra’s sales wasn’t disrupted, which has been garnering some impressive number of bookings.

Coming to the car itself, the new Hyundai Tucson coming to India is the third-generation model and is built on the company's popular Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy. The car features Hyundai’s signature design flow with curvy edges that have been further accentuated by stylish features like - an imposing hexagonal grille with chrome slats, stylish sweptback headlamps, sloping roofline, a sporty bumper, and wrap-around LED taillights to go along with its rugged profile. The cabin of the new Hyundai Tuscon gets leather upholstery, leather wrapping for the instrument panel and steering wheel. The feature list includes a touchscreen infotainment system, 8 speakers, optional panoramic sunroof, and electric tailgate among others.

Under the hood, the car is likely to Hyundai Tucson is likely to be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that will come in two states of tune. The engine develops 134bhp and 181bhp and will get both, a 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox as transmission options like the Creta. In India, the 2016 Hyundai Tucson will be priced in the range of ₹ 20 lakh to ₹ 25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
