New Delhi: Cold is the most common viral infections which we all have suffered frequently. Though there are medicines that are easily available to us, but it is always better to opt for home remedies to treat and reduce these common health problems using natural ingredients.


The anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral and anti-protozoal properties in garlic helps to prevent viral infections and also helps in lowering high blood pressure, cholesterol and reducing the chances of heart attack and stroke.


Ginger is another excellent home remedy that helps to ease the symptoms of viral fever because of its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and analgesic properties. Boil ginger in one cup of water, mix honey and drink it.


Cinnamon contains antifungal, antibacterial, and even antiviral properties that helps in treating sore throat, colds and cough.

Basil leaves

Basil leaves are well-known for treating viral fever, flu, swine flu, bronchitis, sore throat, malaria because of its anti-bacterial, germicidal, anti-biotic and fungicidal properties in it.
