Malayalam actor Jagannatha Varma passes away

Thiruvananthapuram: Renowned Malayalam actor K. N. Jagannatha Varma passed away at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram Tuesday. He was 77.

Varma, who was also a Kathakali artist, acted in 575 films and numerous TV serials. He also served as a police officer.

His son Manu Varma too is an actor, while director Viji Thampi is his son-in-law.

Varma, a Cherthala native, is known for his roles in New Delhi, Lelam and Pathram among others.

He was the actor-to-go-to in Malayalam movies for roles of senior police officer, judge, bishop or top bureaucrat.
