Double Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman will release the trailer of Mani Ratnam’s highly anticipated Kaatru Veliyidai on Thursday. Starring Karthi as a fighter pilot and Aditi Rao Hydari as a doctor, the film marks the first time collaboration of Ratnam and Karthi, who had previously assisted the ace filmmaker on Yuva.

With the film due for release on April 7, it is with bated breath that fans are waiting for the trailer and the full audio album. Three singles released so far have been received very well but fans are eagerly waiting for the complete soundtrack.

Unlike most Ratnam’s films, Kaatru Veliyidai isn’t a full-length romantic outing. It’s believed to be an intense drama that also has elements of romance. Karthi will be seen in two avatars throughout the film. While he will be sporting stubble for some key portion, otherwise he will be seen in a clean shaven look.

The film has been shot in places such as Ooty and Kashmir, and it’s nearly after two decades that Ratnam has travelled out of country to shoot in Belgrade, Europe. Produced by Madras Talkies, the film also stars Shraddha Srinath, Rukmini Vijayakumar, RJ Balaji, Delhi Ganesh and veteran Malayalam actor Lalitha. The film has music by AR Rahman.
