You have just started your day and you sense some bad breath in your mouth. The thought of carrying it throughout the day will make you feel extremely self-conscious. The condition will make you aware to the point that you will begin doubting your skills. So, the first and immediate solution to this is a mouth wash or a mint. This immediate solution may eliminate the foul smell temporarily and save your day but not permanently.

Let's understand the condition of bad breath thoroughly. Bad breath, medically called halitosis, can result from poor dental health habits and may be a sign of other health problems. The issue can be made worse by the type of foods you eat and unhealthy lifestyle habits. All the food eaten begins to be broken down in your mouth. If you eat foods with strong odours such as garlic and onions, it tends to intensify. Such foul smells should be cleansed thoroughly as a part of oral hygiene. Poor oral hygiene from not brushing or flossing your teeth regularly could also add to bad breath. It is the result of the remains of food particles in your mouth, stuck between the teeth, around the gums and on the tongue. These food particles cause bacterial growth in areas of mouth and eventually lead to oral decay.

There are scores of health and oral problems that are caused due to persistent bad breath. Bad breath or bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of periodontal disease, a gum disease caused by infection around the structure of the teeth. This infection could be caused by Plaque, which is primarily formed due to bacteria build-up. If this gum disease goes untreated, it can damage the gums and also jawbone. Bad breath could also be caused due to poorly fitting dental appliances, yeast infections of the mouth and cavities. The medical condition dry mouth, also called xerostomia, also adds to bad breath. Saliva, is hence necessary to moisten the mouth, neutralize acids produced by plaque, and wash away dead cells that accumulate on the tongue, gums, and cheeks. If not removed, these cells decompose and can cause bad breath. Dry mouth in turn could be a side effect of various medications, salivary gland problems, or continuous breathing through the mouth. Many other diseases and illnesses may cause bad breath such as respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia or bronchitis, chronic sinus infections, postnasal drip, diabetes, chronic acid reflux, and liver or kidney problems.

All these entangled complications could be avoided if one brushes with certain constant pattern regularly that helps in removing the plaque thoroughly. However, adopting a similar and consistent way to clean your teeth seems almost impossible to follow. So, to guide one in the oral care hygiene, electric toothbrushes with several features that help in effective plaque removal have been launched in the market. Features of the toothbrush like the criss-cross bristles and 3D cleaning action which oscillates, rotates and pulsates to remove plaque with ease provide a wholesome dental care. The round brush head is specifically designed to surround each tooth and reach areas that are often difficult to reach and remove plaque. The on-handle timer buzzes every 30 seconds to let you know when it's time to focus on brushing the next quadrant of your mouth and alerts you when you have brushed for the dentist-recommended time of 2 minutes to ensure effective plaque removal.

Apart from offering the benefit of more plaque removal vs a regular toothbrush, some of the electric toothbrushes also have a visible pressure sensor that alert the user when they are applying too much pressure and avoid harmful brushing. Some of them also feature a gum care massage mode which stimulates the gums gently to keep them healthy and strong. These features help the mouth stay germ and bacteria free, eventually leading to a bad breath free mouth. Adapt an electric toothbrush with right features in your oral routine to ensure complete and profound oral care which helps in preventing bad breath.
