A couple of test mules of the 2017 Ford EcoSport facelift were recently spotted in India with minimal camouflage. The cars look production ready and were spotted in Mumbai while being transported on a flatbed. One of the units was possibly an export model considering it missed out on the tailgate-mounted spare wheel. Slated to be launched in India around the festive season, the upcoming Ford EcoSport facelift comes with a host of design and cosmetic updates but mechanically, it is likely to remain unchanged. This is a much-needed update for the EcoSport, especially when you consider rival Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is leading the UV sales since last few months with average sales of almost 10,000 units a month. Ford, on the other hand, is selling a little over 4000 units of the current model of the EcoSport.

As you can clearly see in these new spy shots, the updated EcoSport models here are the top-of-the-line Titanium variants. While the silhouette of the 2017 Ford EcoSport facelift remains largely similar to the outgoing model, the styling is pretty much new. Up front, the grille design has been changed and it looks bolder now. The front bumper is also new and comes sporting muscular lines, underbody plastic cladding, and a silver faux skid plate. While the headlamp cluster has been slightly revised to give a sharper look, they are further complimented by all-new angular foglamps placed right below them.

From the sides, the EcoSport facelift looks largely similar to the outgoing model and the only major difference are the all-new alloy wheels which look better than the current ones. Similar plastic cladding is seen here as well. The taillamps have also been revised and we can even see that the design of the cover for the tailgate mounted spare wheel has also been updated. The updates made to the cabin are still unknown but we expect a new a slightly upmarket interior.

Under the hood, the 2017 Ford EcoSport facelift will continue to use the same 123 bhp 1-litre EcoBoost petrol, the 110 bhp 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol and the 99 bhp 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engines. Transmission options will include the 5-speed manual and 6-speed DCT automatic. The car will continue to be manufactured at the company's facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu for both domestic and the export markets.
