Ministry ‘temporarily’ solves hygiene-tied crisis in schools

Posted on : Thursday 24th of August 2017

KUWAIT CITY : Ministry of Education has temporarily solved the hygiene related crisis in its schools and educational zones before the start of the new academic year, reports Al-Rai daily.

Such a move came after the ministry represented by its financial sector extended the current cleaning services contracts for another three months ending on September 30 at a total value of KD 1.6 million for all educational zones except for Farwaniya, which has a cleaning service arrangement already in place.

Assistant Undersecretary for Financial Affairs Yousef Al-Najjar disclosed there are five new tenders that meet the conditions of the regulatory authorities and that the signing of the contracts is only pending. He stressed that the work of the winning companies that will execute these contracts will start after the expiry of the current contracts, which is September 30.

Al-Najjar affirmed that the companies that won the tenders are new and different from the current ones, adding that the contracts were prepared with them and includes detailed provisions that preserve the ministry’s right to provide the number of workers required in each school and the quality of machines and tools used in schools among other things.
