Kochi: The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has finally relented to intense pressure from various quarters and agreed to hold the India-West Indies One-Day International (ODI) at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.

The KCA, which was keen on hosting the match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi, finally made the decision after a meeting with sports minister A. C. Moideen on Thursday.

However, KCA secretary Jayesh George made it clear that Kochi will stage international cricket matches in future.

Jayesh also came down heavily on cricket legend and Kerala Blasters FC co-owner Sachin Tendulkar for voicing his concerns about the football turf at the Nehru Stadium.

“Sachin made those comments because he's the co-owner of Kerala Blasters. As for the comments about the football turf getting damaged, Sachin is not a curator nor an expert in making cricket pitches,” Jayesh told mediapersons.

He was also critical of Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor's tweets condemning the KCA plan to hold the match in Kochi.

The match, to he played on November 1, will be the second international cricket match to be held at Greenfield after last year's T20 International between India and New Zealand.
