Thiruvananthapuram: Divya S Iyer has done nothing wrong in a land deal in Kuttichal panchayat, where she was accused of assigning government land to an individual in the village.

District collector K Vasuki, in a report to the revenue department, said that the former Thiruvananthapuram sub-collector Divya S Iyer has followed the guidelines as per the rules and she hasn't transferred the land to the individual.

Divya S Iyer has got the clean chit from the collector in the Kuttichal land deal even as she was transferred over allegations in a land deal in Varkala. Onmanorama has a copy of the report submitted by the collector.

Divya S Iyer was first accused of transferring a government land to a private individual in Varkala. Then came the controversial Kuttichal land deal. On the basis of a complaint filed by Kuttichal panchayat that Divya S Iyer transferred 83 cents of government land to a Congress supporter, the revenue minister ordered an enquiry.

The enquiry, conducted by the collector, has given the sub-collector a clean chit. The sub-collector had in fact asked the person who had been claiming the land for decades to pay the market price for the land. This was as per the land assignment rules. Since the person did not pay up and instead approached the court, the land has not been assigned to anybody.

The collector's report also raises doubts over the intention of the Kuttichal panchayat's LDF administration that filed the complaint against Divya S Iyer. The panchayat raised its objection only in 2017 in a case that began in 2010.

The report submitted to the revenue secretary will be handed over to the revenue minister. Divya S Iyer was transferred from the sub-collector's post after the CPM district leadership sought action against her in the Varkala land deal.

She was shifted to the post of deputy secretary in the local self-government department on Wednesday in a decision taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by the chief minister.
