Several students caught cheating on first day of final exams for public, private schools

Posted on : Tuesday 8th of May 2018

KUWAIT CITY : The first day of the final exams for public and private schools turned out to be full of disappointments this academic year as several students caught cheating with modern and conventional tools were prevented from continuing the exam.

The daily quoting a knowledgeable source said students were caught in the act regardless of strict supervision and punishments instituted by the Ministry of Education to prevent cheating in examination amid determination to produce generations that can be self-reliant and wipe out “bogus success”.

Some 220,000 male and female students in the fifth elementary grade, as well as their counterparts in the middle and secondary levels started their exam last Sunday, while the twelfth grade students in both public and private schools will begin the process next Sunday.

The source declared that cases of cheating during the exam caught the officials unawares considering the series of procedures put in place by concerned authorities to prevent such ugly situation. Yet, many students tried to use papers filled with answers and other devices such as portable earpieces and phones for that purpose.

Most of the students caught in the act were the ones studying at home and evening students. Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Hamid Al- Azmi disclosed that the exam is appropriate for the standard of all students taking into account their individual differences, indicating the ministry laid emphasis on this policy for all education areas.

The minister was accompanied on his tour of the examination centers by acting Undersecretary and Assistant Undersecretary for Education Development and Activities Faisal Maqseed, the Director of Public Relations and Education Media Dhedan Al-Ajmi. The visit covered some centers in Jahra and Farwaniya education areas.
