KUWAIT CITY : Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR), the General Department of Coast Guard, and Kuwait Fishermen Union announced that the season of shrimp fishing in the international waters will begin August 1 until Jan 31, 2019.

They added the ban on shrimp fishing will officially start on February 1, 2019 and continue throughout July 31, 2019. At a joint press conference, the sectors called on fishermen to abide by the executive decree issued by PAAAFR in that concern, stressing that violators will face the rigors of law and penalties, including fines.

Deputy Director of Fish Resources at PAAAFR Marzouq Al-Harbi is optimistic that fishermen and the general public will abide by fishing regulations in the international waters.

In this context, acting Director of Marine Formations Sector at the General Department of Coast Guard Colonel Tariq Al-Wazeeq also said Coast Guard officers will closely monitor the location to enforce fishing regulations.
